IEEE Student Chapter - SPSU
Welcome to the IEEE Student Chapter Website here at Southern Polytechnic State University. IEEE (pronounced eye-triple-E) stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. You may have noticed one of our standards while doing technical research or read an article from one of our many periodicals. We are a world-wide professional organization for engineers and engineering technologists.

Who Should Join
IEEE Student membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least 50% of a normal, full-time course of study in electrical, electronics, computer engineering or computer sciences, or in an allied branch of engineering technology or the related arts and sciences.

  Spring 2008 ECET/IEEE COOK OUT

    FREE FOOD!!! The ECET and IEEE SPSU chapter will sponsor a cook out on Thursday April 10, 2008. Hamburgers (beef and veggie), hot dogs, chips, cookies and sodas will be served during the hours of 12:00 - 2:30 and 4:30 - 6:00. Please bring copies of OLD tests so we may update our test bank.    
   
  IEEE Local Membership Renewal

    Its that time of year again...IEEE local membership renewal time that is.

Please complete the local membership application. The dues are $10.00 and your local SPSU membership is based on the school year, so it will be valid until September 20, 2007.

Go to \'About IEEE\' then Click on the \'Join\' link and download the local membership application. You can also pick up an appliation from the ECET Tech shop or the IEEE office. Turn in the completed application and payment to the Tech Shop, room G-149 or IEEE Office at G-122.

Remember that this is a separate process from your national membership renewal. Go to http://www.ieee.org to join. Your local dues, $10.00 can be paid by check, money order, or cash (we are currently unable to accept credit cards for local dues). Please make checks payable to IEEE SPSU Student Chapter.

You still need to fillout the form even if you are an existing member. This will help us process your application efficiently and will allow you to update any new information. If you are an existing member, Make sure you note that you are an existing member on the form.

THE DUE DATE IS SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 AT MIDNIGHT, AFTER THAT DOOR CODES WILL BE CHANGED AND YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DEACTIVATED.

  IEEE General Meetings Thursday September 13

    IEEE@SPSU will be having a general meeting Thursday September 13, 2007 between 5:00PM and 5:45PM in the ECET building room G-153.

This will be our first general meeting for this semester.It will be an informative meeting where officers will talk about current status of the organization as well as upcoming events planned for the fall semester. The meeting will also focus on the recruitment of officers.

Everyone is welcome and as always free food will be provided.
   
   
  End of the Semester Cookout: Tuesday April 24, 2007

    IEEE@SPSU will be having the end of the semester cookout on Tuesday April 24, 2007 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in front of the ECET (G) building. Free hot dogs, meat and veggie burgers, cookies, chips and sodas will be served.

IEEE is looking for potential candidates for the 2007-08 academic year. If you are interested in becoming an officer please send an email to ieee.spsu.edu or talk to any one of the current officers during the cookout.

  General Member Meeting Thursday February 22, 2007

    We will be having a general meeting this Thursday from 5:00PM to 6:00Pm in G152. Mr. Marshall Hopkins from Scientific Research will speak about getting a job after graduation and finances after graduation. Everyone is welcome and as always, free food will be available.
